This page contains my personal top ten reasons (in no particular order)
why owning and managing your own personal website is such a wonderful
idea and why building a website with Site Build It is the absolute best
way to do it.
Each of you, of course, is going to have a different list, however the
ones I've settled on seem to be pertinent to everyone.
As I was working on the list I had an incident in my life that proved
the value of a website built using SBI.
In short - I had an unexpected major medical problem (quadruple
coronary bypass) in early May that kept me from earning money in my
normal way. It could have been a real problem except for the
income from my website.
Am I glad I have an income producing site? You bet I am!
And - ya - the recover from the surgery is going really well - thanks
for asking ...
And now here are my top ten reasons ...
Security
The economic changes over
the past few years have been nothing short of astonishing.
What may have appeared to be a secure job and a secure future is not so
secure anymore. In fact, many folks are worried about maintaining
their present standard of living.
For instance, in the summer of 2011 the world was watching as the
United States struggled and wrestled with a budget crisis. If
this was not resolved early in August then the results could have been
catastrophic, not only for Americans but for folks around the whole
world.
It's nice to think you're secure in your job but time and time again we
are reminded that we're all at the mercy of forces over which we have
no control whatsoever. It's not particularly comforting to know
the financial future of you and your family can be under the control of
some character sitting in a boardroom multiple time zones and thousands
of miles away.
With your own site there are no layoffs, no downsizing, no right sizing
(a politically correct term) and your hours cannot be cut. Your
successful website inoculates you from all of that corporate stuff!
There is no doubt whatsoever that a revenue producing website
(especially one prepared using Site Build It - SBI) - is a wise way to
create security over the coming years.
The next point describes why that is so ...
Enormous Market
Here's
the thing - when you're contemplating a purchase of some big ticket
item where's the very first place you go for information?
You go on-line, right?
Everyone does - it's now the norm.
Doesn't that tell you something? It's saying that the on-line
market for pretty much anything is unbelievably, amazingly enormous!
The potential visitors to your website include everyone on the planet
with a computer and internet access.
The statistics that I receive from SBI! list the top 30 countries that
visited my site (the graphics tablet) and they are from every corner of
the globe.
SBI! also lists the top 300 Referrers which is how the visitors found
my site and they are from everywhere!
Now owning and running a business in your local town is nice but -
would you rather have your market come from your local town or from all
around the world?
Hey - how about this - have your local business and your internet
business at the same time. The local one does the work and the
internet one acts as a consultant and provides referrals (for a fee).

It
doesn't matter what you're doing or what's going on in your life (like
oh say - stuck in the hospital for a couple of weeks) - your website is
out there attracting traffic all day, every day of the year.
It never takes a vacation or a sick day or just a goof off day - you do
but your website doesn't.
This and the previous point are telling you that you can have visitors
and buyers from everywhere in the world all day, every day.
What's not to love about that?
People
Are Buying On-Line
I spend a lot of time in the retail environment (as a
rep). One thing I've seen over the past few years is a dramatic
increase in on-line sales and the stores becoming less and less busy.
One store rep told me a couple of years ago that the on-line sales his
company did over the Christmas holiday season was the equivalent of
what two stores would do in the same time period before on-line sales.
And that was a few years ago. People are buying on-line.
The initial reluctance to provide a credit card number is pretty much a
thing of the past as the convenience and wonderful deals on-line are
very popular. The merchants love on-line sales - no expensive
buildings, no expensive staff, no benefits and much more profit.
Tax Benefits
This is great - most jurisdictions provide some sort of
taxable benefits to small business owners. This is something that
you need to check with your accountant.
Things like office space, computers, internet connection, phones,
utilities, SBI subscription are all items that may provide a tax
benefit and that will depend on the laws where you live.
Really now - is there anything more satisfying than legally avoiding
taxes?
Website
vs Other Business Opportunities
Have you ever been to an MLM meeting? Have you ever
tried to get someone to an MLM meeting? For a small segment of
society those activities are exciting and well worth the effort.
For the majority, however, they are difficult to deal with and not much
fun at all.
If you love this business then SBI has some thoughts on how you can be
successful as a Network Marketer without the frustration and rejection
right here ...
There is no rejection on the internet - either someone likes what they
see on your home page or they don't. If they don't then
they click off to the next site - if they do then they stay and explore.
If you've ever typed Home Business in a Search Engine you were probably
stunned with the results. Unfortunately the great majority were
Get Rich Quick (GRQ) schemes that only seem to work for the person
running the scheme.
If it seems to good to be true then it probably is! A home
business requires some effort, some work and some cost on your
part. Of that there is no doubt so be very sure that what you are
doing has the potential for you to meet your goals! If it looks
dodgy then - run!
How about a part-time local service business like painting or window
cleaning or whatever you like? The fact is that you are only paid
for the time you are doing the activity (painting or cleaning) whereas
a website is working and generating income all day, every day all over
the world.
Owning and running a website may be the most perfect business
opportunity ever! A bold statement, for sure! The upside is
enormous and the downside is minimal (and generally means you don't
want to do the work).
Equity
Now this is something very interesting. As the weeks
and months and years go by and more and more visitors come to your site
then the value of your site increases. Visitors eyeballs are
valuable!
So if something changes in your life then you have a valuable asset to
sell!
Your site is building equity which is probably the most important
reason to make sure your site is set up correctly right from the get go
...
You can struggle along with a free site, waste time and build nothing
or you can go with SBI and do it right the first time ...
Any Subject
Any subject that is of interest to you or you're
passionate about is perfect for a website. This means you focus
all of your time on your hobby, what you do in your career - anything.
The advantage of using any subject is that you really don't have to
learn about a new area because you already know all you need to know.
Fun and Rewarding
If something you're doing isn't fun then why the heck are you doing it?
If something you're doing isn't rewarding then why the heck are you
doing it?
Building and maintaining a successful website is both fun and
rewarding. It's such a kick to upload a new page and see it live
on your site and then watch the visits increase. It's one of the
things that'll keep you writing new pages.
The funny thing about enthusiasm for a site is that you will be
planning, pondering and thinking about new pages pretty much all the
time.
One of the greatest thrills will be the first payment you receive from
some activity on your site (AdSense or selling and e-book or whatever).
That first payment tells you that this is do-able and worth the time
and the effort!
Multiple
Income Streams
It's really nice to think you can put up an SBI website, add one
product and retire a few months later.
Sadly - that probably won't happen.
The key to your retirement is multiple income streams and some
consistent effort on your part.
There are just so many different ways to monetize a website with the
obvious
advantage being that your income is not dependent on just one
activity.
Unlike any other business model, a personal website offers so many different income opportunities.
Quite frankly you are limited by your imagination and the focus of your site. Here are just a few ideas ...
Your own e-book.
Google AdSense.
Product Affiliate.
Clickbank.
Your own product.
Network marketing product.
These are my top ten - and when you think about it you'll probably be able to add some that are important to you.
