Graphire - The Choice
Of Consumers

The Graphire Series of Graphics Tablets from Wacom appeals to a large segment of the population because of their power, their relatively low cost and their availability in a variety of sizes and colors.

Who are Graphire users?

  • Graphic Arts Students

  • Teachers

  • Digital Artists

  • Scrapbookers

  • Amateur Photographers

  • Children

  • Photo Retouchers

  • Family Historians

  • Business Executives
  • People with RSI (repetitive stress injury)
and on and on and on ---

Once you have a digital camera and a computer then the Graphire truly is the must have, indispensable addition to your system.

The Models

They are available in two sizes - 4" X 5", and 6" X 8". The dimensions are the active area of the tablet, that is, the part of the tablet where you work. The actual tablets are larger but they are easy to take with you in a laptop bag.

They are available in three colors - Metallic Blue, Silver and White.

A 6" X 8" Bluetooth is also available. The Bluetooth version will work with Macs right away as the MAC has Bluetooth built in. If you are running a Windows system you will need to purchase a Bluetooth Dongle.

A note about the Bluetooth version ... when I first used this tablet I felt so-so about it. I set it up on a Windows machine and had to struggle to get the dongle thing working (I seem to be Bluetooth challenged). When I used it on my MAC G4 laptop it was a completely different story.

The MAC and Bluetooth started talking to each other right away! I really like using the two of them - no wires and the Bluetooth is a nicer size for me than the smaller 4X5 Graphire.

Every Graphire will recognize 512 levels of pressure and 1000 DPI. When you compare this to a mouse - well - the Graphire is far superior.

Not only is the tablet an outstanding Graphics tool but it works as a mouse as well. This is great news for folks who are dealing with wrist problems caused by a mouse.

In The Box

  • The Tablet

  • Pen

  • Mouse

  • Pen Stand

  • Hybrid Driver CD (both MAC and Windows)

  • Corel Painter Essentials 2 - fabulous program for drawing and painting with natural media brushes.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 - with Elements you can pretty much do anything you want to with your photographs. It is not as powerful as the latest version of Photoshop CS2 but not many people can use all of the features of CS2 so - really - who cares?

  • nik Color Effects Pro 2 GE - some unique filters for Photoshop.

  • And ... they are fully Vista compatible!

As you can see, everything that you would need to get started is included. You can certainly upgrade your software if you wish but it is not necessary to create outstanding results in either Photoshop Elements 3 or Painter Essentials 2 with your Graphire.

Neat Stuff

The tablets have a plastic cover that can be easily removed by flipping the tablet over and moving four little locks. The advantage is that you can tape a picture on the plastic cover, replace the plastic and then trace the picture with your pen and of course - claim you did it freehand!

Now you have a great line drawing of your picture - your dog, your grandmother, your spouse - anyone you choose.

The mouse has the same resolution as the pen - 1000 DPI. This makes the Graphire mouse one of the the most accurate mouses? mice? meece? - you will ever find. Gamers love it, for sure.
