You can use the Divine Proportion tool to set up your painting or drawing.

To activate the Divine Proportion Palette ...

  1. Select Window > Show Divine Proportion.

  2. Create the canvas you will be working on and put a check in the Enable Divine Proportion check box.

  3. Set the orientation and size of the Divine Proportion by moving the sliders (for size)and click on one of the eight Orientation icons.

Now you are ready to go.

Here is the work flow from Wes Pack ...

Step 1: Roughly sketch in the initial composition, keeping the center area of the Divine Proportion spiral as the main focal point or key element of your painting.

Of course, all of the steps from here on are far easier using your Wacom pen and tablet!
